Love Gabe!! 5 perfect STARS for Fling!!!

Fling is a novella about Sandra and Gabe. If you've read Jana Aston's Right, then you know they were secondary characters. The novella does give us some backstory, so it can be easily read as a standalone. Although, I highly recommend reading both Wrong and Right--just because they're simply AMAZING!!
“Smart turns me on. Sometimes Gabe wears these thick-rimmed glasses, kinda nerdish. Very Clark Kent. They drive me to the brink of distraction. And I do not like to be distracted. Focus is the name of my game. Focused, reliable Sandra.”
 Sandra is executive assistant to Clemens Corporation’s CEO, Sawyer Camden. She's the sweet, quiet, super productive girl at work. She also has a crush on her boss’ best friend, Gabe Laurent. Gabe just happens to be the very attractive CFO and co-owner of Clemens Corporation. Someone she thinks she has no chance with.
During a boring office meeting, Sandra is given a note asking some very intimate questions by her best friend and co-worker, Preston. It was never meant to be seen by anyone—let alone Gabe. But once it ends up in his possession, he decides to pursue the beautiful, shy assistant.
I’m a huge fan of Jana’s entire Wrong series! Like always, her writing is a great mix of sweet, sexy, and laugh out loud moments. If you’re looking for a short, flirty romance--Fling is PERFECT!!!

I was not disappointed by FLING

This is Jana's third book and first novella. As a first time published author she had me hooked with WRONG. RIGHT, her second offering, was the icing on the cake. I'm a big fan of her writing style and eagerly looked forward to this novella and to the release of TRUST. I was not disappointed by FLING. The characters are both fun and sweet. It was a quick, but satisfying read. Perfect for a lazy afternoon. Miss Aston's books maintain the perfect balance of humor, sweetness, romance and sex. I would literally read anything she writes. All books thus far are interconnected so you already know and love many of the characters and can follow the story. I love that she doesn't follow the usual pattern of some romance novels by including a major break in the relationship before the HEA. She simply tells their story with wit from the alternating POV of each main character and leaves you wanting more. Thankfully she gives us an epilogue so we feel we get the "more" we crave. I am counting the days until TRUST is released. Keep writing Jana!

Is it just a Fling, or something more??

I was provided an Advanced Copy of Fling by the author for an honest review.

I was so excited to get this on my Kindle over the weekend. I can remember when I discovered Jana's Wrong series and I devoured Wrong and Right in 2 days. So naturally getting Fling on my Kindle was like an early Christmas present for me.

Fling features Gabe (who you might recall from Right as Sawyer's best friend and business partner) and Sandra (Sawyer's executive assistant). Sandra has been lusting after Gabe for some time. And when her best friend/Gabe's assistant gives her an eighties-style teen movie sex quiz during the quarterly meeting, little does she know that it will end up in Gabe's hands.

And so begins the sweet, hilarious and dirty Fling between Sandra and Gabe. But will it turn into more than just a fling? You'll have to read it to find out! But I promise, you won't be disappointed!

With Aston's familiar nods to John Hughes, her laugh-out-loud characters, and her ability to weave together such well-written scenes so succinctly, this will definitely be a favorite read. (Also readers, her next full-length, Trust (Boyd and Chloe), comes out on November 8th!! I can't wait to get my hot little hands on that one too!

Situated on the thin strip of land that separates the shallow Benya Lagoon from the Atlantic, Elmina is a fascinating and strikingly attractive small town, at least the equal of nearby Cape Coast in terms of historical sightseeing, though often overlooked by tourists in favor of its larger neighbor. The town started life as a fishing and salt-producing village roughly 700 years ago and, despite having served as first the Portuguese and later the Dutch headquarters in West Africa, an overgrown fishing village is basically what Elmina remains today, the rich harvest of the surrounding ocean supplemented by the production of salt from the brackish lagoon. Back in its economic heyday, however, Elmina lay at the heart of the West African gold trade.

Anyone going to Ghana should have this guide ... and read most of it prior to the trip ... very helpful, useful, & enlightening information ... accurate and up to date. I had a Rotary mission trip to Ghana ( all over the country ) and this guide was "spot on" with most every location we traveled to ... even very remote tribal villages in the far north. I am now speaking to many groups about my mission trip and this guide is an excellent resource. Highly recommended !

Has everything in it you need to know

This book has exactly what I was looking for with an honest look at what you face when you travel to Ghana. I won't be in the main city so that has good reviews of hotels, restaurants, sites to see, etc as well as good travel advice on health, safety, food, etc.

This was an older printing. Book was scuffed. Printing, paper, and binding seemed cheap.

It's got all the info you need for certification

A text with everything you need to know for PADI Open Water Certification. I bought it to use as a reference, having done the course online.
I preferred the video & audio learning to reading the book. However, the book is cheaper than the online course and probably a faster way to learn the material than watching videos.

Complete waste of time

This book is, as my title states, a complete waste of time. When reading through the book, it has the feel of a 2008 R2 book that was hacked and made into a 2012 book. There are countless errors, both technical and grammatical, so many in fact that it's hard to accept what the book says without looking it up to verify it. Just as an example, they mot the maximum supported memory of 2012 Standard incorrect, the book states 32GB max, whereas Microsoft states 4TB. They also stated migration paths from 2008/R2 to 2012 incorrectly as well. These are things that are so basic, seeing them printed incorrectly just doesn't give me much faith in anything else it has to say.

For anyone looking to buy this book, I would highly recommend you wait until the MS Press books, or the Mastering 2012 book is released.

I'm feeling really misled....

So, i'm three chapters into this book. Obviously it's a doozy...we're looking at over 1000 pages.
Reading it carefully, I'm getting very annoyed at the obviousness & repetition of some of this stuff.
I don't need to be told that automatic update will do automatic update. I know that it's in the name, so tell me something I don't know. Secondly - STOP trying to get me in the MS customer experience program. It's like buying a freaking car...you're trying to sell me on something and instead are just aggravating me.
Finally, the biggest and most severe problem I've found & the one that may have me returning the book shortly. The author says:

As with the previous two versions of the operating system, there is no choice as to the file system on the partition. Windows Server 2012 automatically uses the new ReFS file system for all created partitions. ReFS is an improved and updated version of the NTFS file system. You can find more information aboutReFS in Chapter 28, "File System Management and Fault Tolerance."

This is untrue. The system volume is NTFS, NOT ReFS, if that what it's saying. Minimally, it's confusing but I think it's just flat wrong. If the writers got this level of credibility wrong, I'm beginning to suspect everything I'm reading & may soon consider the book a waste of time.

Further, the book is extremely obvious in some places. There are places where I wanted to more detail and the book failed to deliver. I'll have more about what I like / don't like as I go

Not as Good as Previous Unleashed Books

I'm a big fan of the Windows Server Unleashed books. I have purchased editions for Server 2008 and R2 and enjoyed them. I think this time around they were in too much of a hurry.

I'm 23 pages into the book, and on every page there has been some glaring error, from randomly misplaced punctuation to sentences so poorly written I have to read them multiple times and guess what they were trying to say. It looks like it got a quick one-pass proofread before going to the press.

The hallmark of the Unleashed series is that they work with beta versions of the software and try to give a real-world, experienced account of using the software in a production environment. Since this book is so poorly written, I don't have a lot of confidence in the accuracy of its contents.

Good basic review book

I got this book for two reasons. My fifth grade granddaughter is a wonderful writer and just recently was offered a place on the spelling team so I wanted something to help her become an even better writer and of course something to help with spelling. My second reason is that I'm thinking about going back for another Masters and the program I'm interested in requires another GRE test as my previous ones are way too old. :( Badly in need of a refresher.

It is always nice to have a study buddy even one that is ten! She makes me think about the verbal sections more than the book does! The book is a very good refresher for the the types of questions you are going to get, but I am pretty sure the GRE verbal sections that I took were much much tougher than the questions/examples this book supplies. It does have, if you are studying for a spelling bee, a great selection of tough words to master.

The book does approach the GRE's via the Kaplan method. I have never used a Kaplan study book before, but the method is fairly easy to master. The chapters have a highlighted box with the method's techniques listed for easy referral. The instructions, examples and explanations are written simply and understandably.

I know way back when I took the GRE's I used several books and I would still recommend this technique if you are doing a self-study for the GRE rather than taking a course. Each author/presenter has a slightly different take and well, you can never be too prepared.

Way too easy

The GRE is a daunting test, but workbooks can make you feel less nervous about it if you know what to expect. For a true replicate of what the GRE test is like, I would have to recommend purchasing the official tests from ETS because they are the official test writers and would provide the most accurate representation of the test.
Other workbooks are great too, but the Kaplan verbal workbook falls a bit behind the competition. The exercises are much easier than the actual test and the questions found in the ETS official book, so it makes this Kaplan workbook almost worthless. There are some good sections, like the root words and vocab, but you can find GRE vocab on quizlet.
I wouldn't use this book myself for prepping for the GRE, but it is not absolutely useless since it does represents all the easier questions on the GRE.

Concentrates in on verbal in a very compact way.

Prior to receiving this volume, I had recently ordered the overall Kaplan GRE book as a way to familiarize my test and, hopefully, boost my score. Luckily, this book and the GRE Premier book I ordered don't have a lot overlap. The Premier book contains more of a broad overview of the test before thrusting you into sample exercises and quizzes. This book contains a lot more in the way of study materials for the verbal section, including word groupings that can easily take the place of flash cards and lots of sample Q&A material and sample essays showing you good work. I think if you feel the verbal area of the test could be an issue for you this volume could be a good investment. Likewise, the math one if you feel that way about it.

Personally, I've opted for more math aides because, while my major is in accounting, I have left behind a lot of my algebraic principles for more straight-line calculations
