Almost identical to Alexander's Care of the Surgical Patient...

As a surgical technology student, I was excited to find this book on Amazon. (I already own a copy of Alexander's Care of the Patient in Surgery, but I thought a book geared towards surgical technologists would be especially helpful). I ordered it immediately.

It came in today, so I sat down with my copy of Care of the Patient and compared the two. I was extremely disappointed to see that they are nearly identical. CotP has more info overall. This book, Surgical Procedures, leaves out some of the surgical pharmacology information and changes the "Perioperative Nursing Considerations" in each chapter to "Surgical Technologist Considerations" which contains most of the same info, word-for-word, but leaves out details of patient monitoring, preoperative patient preparation, etc. It also leaves out "Sample Plan of Care" tables found in CotP. It does contain about one page per chapter of photos of surgical instruments that the nursing version does not contain, but the pictures are too small to see any details and be of much help. (There are already numerous photos of instruments in the nursing book). All the operative procedure descriptions are the same, with occasional re-wording on some of the steps.

The only things I can see in the Surgical Procedures book that the other book doesn't have is Surgical Technology Preference Cards (which are pretty much very generic lists for supplies typically used for any procedures in a particular specialty- hemostatic agents, drapes, drains and dressings- and never mentions any particular kinds for specific procedures) and at the end of each chapter is a short review of about 10-20 questions.

If you already have a copy of Alexander's Care of the Patient In Surgery, then this is a waste of money. If you don't have a copy of it, then it is cheaper than this book (currently about $20 cheaper, though that may change) and has more information. I am giving this book 4 stars because it is a very good book, but not 5 stars because it is a lot of repeated information. I actually prefer Care of the Patient in Surgery because it gives me information not found in my textbook (Surgical Technology for Surgical Technologists), and any info in Surgical Procedures that is not in Care of the Patient, seems to be in my textbook (or in the Surgical Instrumentation book that was required for my class).

Good, but not what I expected

As a surgical technology student, I expected this book to be exactly what I needed to write my surgical procedure papers. Although this book does offer a variety of great information, it lacked in some areas. I think as a working professional this book will come in handy to use as a reference book to look up procedures or to refresh on procedures that I may be out of practice on. This book is wrote for someone who has a decent knowledge base of the surgery and won't serve well for those who do not.

Paida-Lajin Self healing Works!

I was unable to walk or sleep my right leg was aching constantly. After 2 days of slapping my legs and feet I could walk again and swim.After 7 days I was able to go without insulin which reduced my Hi BP also.I am still working on my BP but am convinced it will soon be normal also.One needs to believe in it and have Faith it will heal ourselves.I believe in it as it is Natural and is God given!

the best healthy and healing method

Although I started both herb medicine and acupuncture, I found this method is most effective and fundamental at healing illness and significantly improving one's constitution. For the past three years, I did Lajin almost every day for 20 minutes each leg and Paida once in a while, but at least one complete whole body Paida each year， except in the first year twice. Anyway, I cured my 25 years old insomnia, liver problems, chronicle fatigue, ceaseless sweat day and night, ceaseless cough, etc. I was in the bottom of my life and Lajin and Paida saved my life. Although it's painful and need discipline to keep on doing it, it's so much easier than taking drugs and going through operations but never got cured. I taught my friend to do Lajin and some paida, they also benefit from the amazing, or astonishing result! You got to do it and keep on doing it, so your illness would be cured and your health would be improved.

False information given for this book. This book does NOT contain ALABAMA!!!! Do not order if you expect to use this to study for Alabama. Also, the book falls apart after opening several times. Good luck trying to return the book and trying to explain to Amazon ALABAMA is NOT in the review book!!! The book and Amazon are both disappointments!

The federal part seemed ok but was short. I would not pay the money they were asking for the other states I wool find a cheaper guide for your specific state. They will usually have the federal included.

Gives a good overview of the Procurement Cycle with concise explanations. Better suited for those new to Procurement and Supply Chain concepts than those working in the field or with a SCM background.

This book wasn't quite what I was looking for but would recommend it to someone who is trying to improve their general knowledge of Procurement either in the workplace or in academia.

Great book for videomakers

This is a good book for those shooting commercial dvds for companies, specially if the people your shooting don't have experience being filmed, and need some support.
I've done some Corporate video myself and believe me this book has a lot of tips that will be useful.
