Great Story and Audio Book

I can't tell you how much I love Valerie Leonard's reading of "These Is My Words." Ms. Leonard brings the story to life in all Sarah Prine's many happy and sad travails. I highly recommend listening to the book, and I don't often recommend listening to a book. That is a testament to the brilliant voice given to Sarah through Valerie Leonard's voice and the engaging story written by Nancy Turner. It is just too bad this audio book is no longer available on Amazon.

During the 1940's Edgar Cayce, the Virginia psychic, gave considerable information concerning the centuries long long before our current civilizations, as to how we, as spiritual beings, came to inhabit this earth, and as to how it has gone wrong in so many ways. The information in Reccia's book the Fall goes into a great deal of informations and very helpful suggestions as to how to reclaim our spiritual essense during these difficult times here on earth.
As with all of the channelled books in the Reccia series, The Fall ranks equal to the other volumes and I really enjoy reading the book on my kindle. Great reading while waiting eternally in the doctor's office. Makes you feel better and see life on earth from a much broader perspective with great solutions to the mess we are currently in at this time in history.

Chomsky matters. So does the Amazon/Audible choice of narrators. They blew that one.

It's not fair of me to knock the importance of Chomsky but that's what averaging reviews will do. The fact it this review is simply that the work was compiled and presented in such a profoundly dry and clinical manner that it was almost unbearable to a non-linguist. Really this is me calling out Audible/Amazon for picking someone more boring than Ben Stein to read the audiobook. I literally used it to fall asleep at night.

Good overview of Chomsky's work

This is a collection of some of Chomsky's most influential essays and articles, covering a wide range of topics from the role of intellectuals in the US, US foreign policy, Israel/Palestine, Anarchism, social movements, and a sampling of his linguistics work. Chomsky is one of the most profound and insightful social critics of our time, and this is a decent overview of his work.

Since some of the essays are excerpts of chapters in his various books, some readers familiar with Chomsky may find it repetitive. For someone completely new to Chomsky, I would recommend "Understanding Power" as a much more comprehensive, readable place to start.

Too Much Politics and Not Enough Linguistics

Mr. Chomsky is brilliant, blindingly articulate, and deserves an immense amount of attention and respect,
but for my money any volume entitled Essential Chomsky should strike a much more even balance between his linguistic work and political work.

I do not feel that this book is sufficiently representative of the likelihood that the evolution of language in primates, the impact of language on the social strucures of Homo Sapiens, and the monkey politics of our present day American condition are essentially all 'of a piece' in this great intellect.

That's my opinion, anyway...

Great investment

This is a great book and I highly recommend it. I purchased it after used my school library's copy all the time for a reference in my third year surgery class. After purchasing it I have continued to use it in my fourth year.

The images are exactly what you need if you will be performing surgery and the book does a great job with the description for the procedure. I highly recommend this book I tend to use it more often than the Auer Equine Surgery book which does not have the images you need. However, it makes a great pair with the Auer book as Auer goes into pathology, pathophysiology, and other treatment options as well as prognosis and predispositions.

If you are interested in surgery or are taking a class where you will be able to perform surgery this would be a great investment.

Great illustrations

This book is very easy to read and has great illustrations for the techniques. Very helpful! One of the best buys as far as the price compared to some of the other books. Illustrations are drawings and not pictures which I find more helpful and a little more detailed than a picture.
