Love this book. Very in-depth. Covers more than just breathing; this book is about a lifestyle change to better your health. I've personally written a book on breathing that is for singing, and I am working on another breathing book for over-all health. Once that book is finished I will definitely be mentioning Bragg's Super Power Breathing in my liner notes as a must-read for fans of my writings. Wish I'd read this book thirty years ago!

There are some bits of knowledge that one wishes they knew many decades earlier. This is the type of book that should actually be required reading in high school and college Economic classes.

This book is outlined so well from start to finish. It literally lays out a very precise plan for one to follow. I like that the author included several links if the reader wishes to learn much more about various subjects. (From investing to which field of work one should pursue).

It's never to late to start down the path of changing one's fiscal habits to better your life. Perhaps you're like me.. and didn't grow up with a father to teach you the basics of economics. And, a single mother who couldn't.. because she was just as clueless about how to make your money work for you. This book will teach you much about money that just isn't as readily known around the world.

Complete Resource Guide for Wealth Creation

This has to be one of the most comprehensive books I have read on making money. Not full of fluff and hype! Rather, this book gives you not only references to factual wisdoms about making money, as well as practical steps to implement. The author also breaks it down step by step for the reader so that they know how to think, how to produce a high income business or career, how and where to invest, the truths of universal laws, as well as traditional Jewish methods of wealth creation.

Not just for the religious, and certainly not just for the Jewish, this book gives anyone a shot at the wealth that is out there to be had. Like most books, it is easier read than applied, but the resources and "Take Action" section make it easier to apply. All that is needed at this point is to follow through.

I highly recommend this book to those with an open mind and a willingness to learn what it takes to create wealth. If you are someone who takes action and implement what you learn, this book is definitely worth your time and consideration.

In recent years, the popularity of "think your way to wealth" have skyrocketed. I've read many of these books, including, The Law of Attraction and The Secret, but I find these books have no tangible results. A lot of my friends have read them, with no results at all. The Money Code actually tells you how to get wealthy with practical steps and tangible results. Many books on wealth are 200-400 pages, when they should only be about 50-100 pages. Many of these books, repeat information, and are long-winded just to fill up space. The Money Code gives you the most practical information and tells you what to do with, in about 50 pages.

For the record, I am not Jewish, but a lot of the information in this book makes sense and is applicable in everyday life. I've seen some tangible results myself. Highly recommended!

Hidden male depression is the focus of this clear, compelling book by a Massachusetts family psychotherapist who specializes in working with dysfunctional men. Because our culture socializes boys to mask feelings of vulnerability, he says, they bury deep within themselves damaging childhood trauma and its ensuing depressive effects when they become men. This strongly reasoned study starts out with an illustration of the "toxic legacy" that is passed, often for generations, from father to son, with each chapter adding another piece to the complex face. Real, a psychologist with 20 years of experience treating men and their families, begins with a poignant scene of his father starting to open up and share the pain of his life. From there, Real unravels the buried feelings men have and how these feelings can lead to estrangement from self and family. The wounded boy grows to be a wounding man, inflicting on those closest to him the very distresses he refuses to acknowledge in himself. Real discusses the relation of depression to addictive behaviors, not only drug or alcohol abuse but also workaholism, gambling, and other compulsions. The cure is in confronting the addictive defenses and allowing the hidden pain to emerge. Throughout, Real gives examples of men who discover cruel, shocking traumas from childhood and their adult depression by undergoing guided imagery, talking in a group of similarly depressed men, or discussing the trauma in family counseling. THE only book you need

When I say I suffered in my depression I should say "we" because I dragged a lot of people down with me. I did therapy, read books, took medications. This book helped me, I believe, more than any other single thing that I did.
Mr. Real writes from experience and with knowledge from both sides of the couch. As he composites out and recreates therapy sessions, you, as a depressed man, should see yourself. You can see where you've been and get a preview of where you're going.
Each chapter ends on an upbeat. It does not end on a sappy upbeat. This is no Stuart Smalley book, no pop psychology here. It is a real upbeat, real hope on a deep level. I actually copied paragraphs from this text onto my own paper and carried them along with me.
It takes courage not to be depressed. This book makes this clear. It also makes it abundantly clear that it can be done.

Will open your eyes to a world you never knew existed

This is a well written book about male depression, filled with case studies that the author has overseen throughout his years as a psychotherapist. The style of prose is easy to read and the book avoids technical jargon.
A distinction is made between covert (or hidden) depression and overt depression - the type which is plain for the world to see. Covert depression in many cases is hidden from the victim himself. The author suggests a strong link between covert depression and addictive behavior.
Although the book was very educational, it left me with an overwhelming feeling of sadness. Case after case after case of abuse, violence, despair and hate leaves the reader with a profound sorrow and a feeling that the world is a terrible place.
Male depression is a "legacy" in the sense that it can be passed down through the generations. In many cases, a father is not able to come to grips with his own psychological afflictions and in turn these manifest themselves in the child when he grows up to be a man.
Male depression can also spring from cultural expectations. Men try to conform to the stereotype of "strong, silent". If a man is an alcoholic or addicted gambler, these are conditions that are seen as curable. However, if a man chooses to discuss his emotions or behaves in a manner which might be considered as feminine, then he is avoided like a leper and socially ostracized.
The book concludes with a powerful message - that it is necessary in life to nurture relationships and have a goal in life that is larger than personal gratification. This is a personal quest on which I am currently embarking.
I have no negative things to say about the book and would highly recommend its purchase!

Outstanding Book on Anger and Depression

Terry Real’s book, I Don't Want to Talk About It, has been around since 1998. I just discovered it after using his book, The New Rules of Marriage, for couples as bibliotherapy, but that’s another story and excellent book.
Terry takes a Trauma Informed look at men and their childhood development. He concludes that men are denied their mother’s support at a critical time in their development: when they are taught to “be a man” by their fathers and the surrounding culture. Their transition from attachment to independence and emotional competence is never resolved.
Boys are admonished by the culture that “men don’t cry,” “your mom will turn you into a sissy boy,” or worse, they are admonished by their peers for being “gay” or a “girly boy” when showing feelings.
His thesis is that men are left susceptible to depression that is often suppressed into a covert form. One of the few feelings allowed readily expressed by men is anger. Anger, driven by deprivation maternal attachment into depression, explodes outward into rage, often directed at women.
Terry is a great writer and believes passionately in his Emotional Focused Therapy like approach to helping men.
And the book works as bibliotherapy, to tease out those suppressed emotions from men in therapy. Men can readily identify with Terry’s personal story and approach.

An Indispensible Contribution

Anthony Scaduto's 1971 biography offers what the title promises: an intimate look at the early career of Bob Dylan. Written at the end of his first decade as a songwriter and recording artist, the book relates Dylan's life from the beginnings in Minnesota and formative years in Greenwich Village through the reclusive period that followed his ascension to fame in the mid-1960s.

The story may be familiar enough now, but Scaduto was the very first to piece it together. Not only was he able to talk with virtually everyone who knew Dylan back then - Rambling Jack Elliott, Dave Van Ronk, Eric von Schmidt, Carolyn Hester, John Hammond (both the producer and his son), Phil Ochs, Eric Andersen, Suze and Carla Rottolo, and Joan Baez - he also tracked down Dylan's friends from his hometown of Hibbing and the scene in Minneapolis's Dinkytown, where Dylan made his debut as a folksinger. Scaduto had something no biographer has since enjoyed: the chance to interview Dylan, who even provided feedback on the manuscript.

Besides being first, Scatudo was thorough. In fact, his book served as the informational template for the many biographies that would follow. Little of any great significance is missing, even when compared with what are widely considered the most complete accounts of Dylan's emergence as a cultural phenomenon, among them, Robert Shelton's No Direction Home, Howard Sounes's Down the Highway and Clinton Heylin's Behind the Shades. Of course, these later works benefit considerably from the decades of subsequent research and analysis. In addition to bringing the story up to date, they offer insights from figures who have since shed new light on the period, most notably, Dylan himself.

Surprisingly, the correctives are relatively minor, unless you care that Robert Zimmerman officially became Robert Dylan on August 2, 1962, and not a week later or that he began his cross-country road trip from Woodstock to New Orleans to Los Angeles on February 3, 1964, and not the day before. Scaduto was also unable to pin down the date of Dylan's arrival in the Village in 1961, which he gives only as "late January." Just the same, he does nail the details on an event many still mistakenly report as having taken place at New Jersey's Greystone Hospital: Dylan's first encounter with the dying Woody Guthrie. The meeting, on January 29, 1961, took place at an apartment in East Orange, where Guthrie spent weekends away from the hospital to be with close friends such as Pete Seeger, Cisco Houston and Rambling Jack. As Dylan's charm and good fortune would have it, he penetrated this hallowed circle within days of arriving in New York City. The exact number - three days - doesn't matter as much.

An issue that does matter is Scaduto's writing, which tends to be perfunctory, a straight reporting of events. Nothing here matches the depth or style of authors like Rolling Stone's Griel Marcus, the Bob Dylan Encyclopedia's Michael Gray or bobdylan.com historian Sean Wilentz. Scaduto nonetheless is an able enough guide, especially in regards to the generous quotations he shares from his interviews, thereby allowing Dylan's intimates to speak at length. Their recollections are not only fresh but as yet unaffected by the legend of the self-schooled troubadour who transformed folk music, then did the same for rock 'n roll. Read the recent, more complete biographies, for sure, but don't overlook Scaduto's indispensible contribution. It's the foundation for the canon that is proving to be, like Dylan's touring, never ending.

This biography of Dylan's early most formative years still seems fresh 38 years later.I read it first in the 70s and it struck me then as the best early strike at getting Dylan right.It delves into his early Hibbing background, showing us a believable flesh and blood figure,sifting myth-making from truth.We get the chubby-faced schoolboy,the solitary adolescent,the compulsive fantasist,the rock'n'roller,poet,shaman,media manipulator and inscrutable, protean personality.Scaduto impresses with the depth of his research involving hundreds of hours of conversation with Dylan's lovers,intimate friends and embittered rivals.The man's mystery remains intact.His use of extended quotes to embellish the narrative is particularly good in the evocation of life in Greenwich Village,the poverty he suffered,how much he depended on friends and learned from Woody Guthrie,Dave Van Ronk,Joan Baez but rapidly moved beyond them and others.

How open and refreshing it is to hear his first thoughts about why he wrote the songs and moved from folk protest to rock and country after the Beatles influenced him as the future.This is unacademic scholarship by an enthusiastic fan with great exhilaration.The review of John Wesley Harding and discussion of Dylan's biblical imagery is particularly impressive,considering the time it was written.This book is written by no high-brow musicologist but a former crime reporter and "Mafia expert".You'll be impressed by the writer's street cred and dogged persistence.To quote Scaduto:"Again and again,Dylan stressed who and what he is,described what he was thinking and feeling during various crises in his life as a superstar who would rather have been a poet".Ifyou read this in conjunction with Chronicles I you'll get the best picture counterchecking his own account against Scaduto's superb tome.

Bob Dylan, by Anthony Scudato began as an unapproved biography and after reading the unauthorized manuscript of his unauthorized biography, Bob Dylan met with Scudato and authorized it. Dylan's lyrics are so complex, they make college Calculus simple by comparison. After having overcome a severe deficiency in mathematical proficiency, I ran into the provocative questions asked by a singer who claimed he did not have the answers. Dylan is very well read, his lyrics demonstrate that fact. No where mentions Dylan having read Plato's works or Socrates's famous dialogues, yet he uses the identical approach to logic which Socrates's grew famous for. Question the man who claims to know much, while claiming to know little, always emerging the wiser of the two, for at least admitting he did not know. When he discovered the Truth Dylan lost a part of his audience, those who did not care to hear the simple Truth. Scudato wrote a masterpiece, Dylan is a masterpiece and this book is a literary treasure.

I will confess at the outset that I have read only half the book, the first 4 sections. The book states near the beginning “…the field of Hindu Studies is emerging as an exemplary model for religious studies.” Really? Then why aren’t scholars studying other religious traditions taking their clue from the Doniger gang and using the same methodologies? If you are interested in the study of Hinduism as a Western universalism-centric neo-orientalist whose understanding of religion was influenced by a childhood of Judeo-Christian upbringing, then this book is for you. If you are interested in Hinduism as a religion, this book is a pass. As a practicing Hindu of over 40 years, I have never been taught, read, or understood, such fantastic interpretations of Hindu cosmology as I have seen in the article titled Hindu Cosmologies by Angelika Malinar. I would suggest that she study Sayana’s commentary on the Rig Veda for a clearer understanding – with some India pundits, not the so-called Sanskrit scholars of the West. There was one refreshing piece in the book, Hindu Philosophical Traditions by David Peter Lawrence. I found his analysis of the present state of Hindu scholasticism in the West to be enlightening, or rather post-enlightening. For a counter to these neo-orientalists, read Invading the Sacred: An Analysis of Hinduism Studies in America by Krishnan Ramaswamy and others. For an introduction to all Hindu traditions for Western readers read The Spiritual Heritage of India by Swami Prabhavananda.

Excellent well-written book that the reader can easily get into and care about the characters. A definite love story for the true at heart romantic. Dan Sexton can relate his characters to anyone who has experienced falling in love.

`That night on the golf course...'

Successful author and publisher Rick Bettencourt brings back on stage Dan Sexton, a writer new to many of us, in a the completed version of his earlier brief novella HANDY MEN DO IT BETTER: the new completed full length, `fleshed out' version is now called THE HANDY MAN CAN, and the steam does indeed rise.

Florida, contemporary times. Jake Honeywell is a 23 year old `blond, green-eyed, six foot two' hunk of a landscaper and in between conversations with his sister and brother he meets 28 year old Cory Hamilton, a hunky golfer from North Carolina who flips real estate for a living. Both men are conflicted about coming out but together they manage to be honest and the results are spontaneous and sensual.

Dan Sexton has the solid approach in writing male erotica to make sure that the characters he manipulates are not clones but real men with real conflicts, family and lives beyond the moments of encounters. He introduces maternal alcoholism, DUIs, and the needs of Jake that prompt his moving out of his humble Florida family home. Then realities rise - Cory has a girl in North Carolina and moves back. Jake shares a small apartment with a straight guy Steve, but of course eventually Cory is free and Jake is longing and they start their sensual relationship all over again - with phone sex! And does it build r=form there! This is steamy, raw and rough - just what you might expect form a Handyman - or a man who is `handy'.

This is a good `coming out' story written by a lad who seems to have the talent to pursue longer novels. Dan Sexton writes well and has this particular manly genre down well. Grady Harp, April 15

With well over four decades of experience, Mick Walker’s motorcycling career has been comprehensive to say the least. He has ridden in most forms of motorcycle sport, and has been the British importer for several makes of exotic Italian race-bred machines. Between 1983 and 1987 he was editor of Motorcycle Enthusiast and in 1985 his first book was published. Since then he has published over ninety books covering the history and development of motorcycles from several countries. Mick has also applied his expertise as a tuner, team manager and coach, where his skills have guided many to stardom, including World Superbike Champion, James Toseland.

Complete, great photos, terrific history

I really enjoyed this book. It's an in-depth history of the Norton Manx racing motorcycles from their inception, through their racing successes, famous tuners, and all the way to the current vintage scene.
There is reasonable technical information, but more enjoyable are the narratives of racing successes, the development of the bike, etc. There are lovely period photographs of the bikes in action, the engines as they evolved, period memorabilia, etc.
There are even sections on the use of the Manx engine in car racing, etc.
I truly enjoyed this book. As I am a fan of the Norton Manx bikes, I liked this book more than many of the other Norton books which describe all the single cylinder bikes, or the twins, etc.
Highly recommended.

A poet not well known in the US, but brilliant, and I greatly prefer the dual-language edition, as I have with other poets - it's the only way to capture some of the intended "sound" that is so integral to poetry.
